Operation

Place the magnetic needle medium and workpiece into a PP (polypropylene) container, pour in the cleaning solution, and place the container into the polishing tank. The permanent magnet disc at the bottom of the polishing tank rotates at high speed, causing the north and south poles to violently switch. The magnetic needle medium within the PP container reacts; although the rotation is intense, the resistance is low, resulting in a soft contact. The workpiece moves within the container, and the needle medium's movement is complex. Even with complex workpiece shapes, the needle medium can reach every corner, removing fine burrs through vibration, stirring, stroking, and movement.

Characteristics of the Magnetic Needle Medium

When developing the magnetic polishing machine, austenitic stainless steel was used for the magnetic needles. Importantly, the composition and magnetic conditions were tested, and SUS 304, with its good response to magnetic fields, can be used as a permanent magnet. The magnetic force of the needle medium cannot be too strong or too weak; the needle medium must be able to respond appropriately to the magnetic field. During polishing, it is necessary to constantly check the movement of the needle medium. The magnetic needle should be selected according to the material and shape of the workpiece. Thinner needles have weaker contact, while the contact becomes stronger as the workpiece size increases. The choice of medium for the pin can change the finished state of the workpiece.
